LOUIS, DES MOINES, and IOWA CITY. Dana has extensive performing experience and has played guitar at a variety of venues in San Diego, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Chicago, & St. Louis. Dana began his solo career while undertaking a world record 12,000 mile canoe trip from Canada to Brazil. During a break in Port of Spain, he was befriended by Philip Keiler (a student of New York guitarist, Alice Artz). This friendship led to Dana's first formal concert at The University of the West Indies in Trinidad. After returning from South America, Dana won top prize in the Senior Classical Guitar category of the Manitoba Music Festival in 1983. Since that time, he has attended master classes held by the world renowned classical guitarist Christopher Parkening, and taken lessons from John Sutherland, David Brandon, and Norbert Kraft. Dana has performed extensively in classical, renaissance, spanish, and baroque styles since 1982. Having released six recordings of classical guitar music, he has a wide selection of music to compliment your event, large or small.
