On the banks of the mighty Mississippi, at the midpoint of the shared
border of Iowa and Illinois, lies the famous Quad Cities region. The
area now actually includes not four but five small cities: Davenport
and Bettendorf, IA, and their sister cities Rock Island, Moline, and
East Moline, IL. As the region has grown, it's become very much a single
community united by Old Man River. Today, it boasts a population of nearly
400,000 - and there are more than enough wedding related merchants
to ensure that you can easily find awesome
mens wedding bands as well as the wedding
dress of your dreams.
Even in a relatively small metro area like the Quad Cities, the potential
options for your wedding venue and reception are many and various. One
of the most elegant is Abbey Station in Rock Island, a historical landmark
that has been recently renovated and is, in a word, exquisite. The Station,
which is now part of the Abbey Hotel, was originally constructed in1901
as a passenger depot for the famous Rock Island Railroad. Today, it's
the perfect wedding reception hall for parties consisting of up to 260
guests. Its lush draperies, imported wool carpeting, and original artwork
make it a venue to remember; the top-quality food, elegant china and
flatware, and attentive service make it entirely unforgettable.
Nearby Davenport, IA is home to Golden Leaf, one of the Quad Cities'
favorite banquet and event facilities. At Golden Leaf, you have the option
of renting either the Cypress Room or the Magnolia Room for your ceremony
and/or reception -- or both. Together, they can accommodate up to 650
guests. Each room offers a fantastic dance floor, a full-service bar,
and a dressing room for the bridal party. Just about everything is included
in the Golden Leaf wedding packages, including the catering, dinner service,
and all the accessories -- from melted Camembert to crystal wine glasses,
if that's what you want. In addition, their wedding planners will gladly
help you with every last detail, right down to finding a jeweler who
will work with you to design
your own engagement ring or wedding ring.
Tanglewood Hills in Bettendorf offers an affordable, comfortable facility
where you can hold both your ceremony and reception in style. Actually
a complex of several buildings, you can get married in the Chapel before
moving on to your reception in either the huge Pavilion (5,000 square
feet, including a large dance floor) or the cozier Evergreen Room (still
huge, at 3,720 square feet). Happy customers consistently rave
about the surprisingly reasonable prices and the top-notch personal service
Tanglewood Hills offers. So while you are out helping your Mom and Grandma
choose those special
occasion dresses they will need for the ceremony, you can relax and
leave a few of the fine details to Tanglewood Hills wedding coordinators.
They'll do everything they can to help your wedding and reception go
off smoothly -- including coaxing nervous little flower girls out of
the bathroom.
Now, keep in mind that we haven't been able to feature more than a bare
few of the superb wedding venues offered in the Quad Cities, due to space
limitations. Rest assured, there are so many more that are worthy of
mention. But we hope this introduction will help you understand the richness
of the choices, and get you started on your own venue search.
